All caregivers are encouraged to attend a free seminar and workshop, “Keys to Successful Caregiving: Understanding Difficult Behaviors & Personal Wellness,” on Thursday, June 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the North Carolina Arboretum (ncarboretum.org). Registration will begin at 12:45 p.m. Interested participants can also pre-register by calling (828) 682-2459, (828) 681-2203 or by e-mailing: ruth@rutheprice.com.
Sponsored by Park Ridge Hospital HOPE Behavioral Health Services, Park Ridge Home Health Services, Land-of-Sky Regional Council’s Family Caregiver Support Program and MemoryCare, the program will focus on the difficulties faced by today’s caregivers. Too often, caregivers neglect their own health needs while struggling with their loved ones’ unpredictable behaviors, such as refusing care, wandering or withdrawing. Each participant will leave with a personal wellness plan and strategies for reducing or eliminating difficult behaviors.
Ruth Price, M.T.-B.C., coordinator of the Park Ridge Hospital HOPE Caregiver Wellness Program since 1996, will lead the program. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from Ms. Price’s personal experiences and to share their own experiences in a supportive environment. For more information visit caregiverwellness.org.
